Can you run a business from home if you are renting in Victoria?
Hi all
Just a question, I have 4 kids of my own - 3 go to school now and would when we move to Australia
I have trained in childcare in the UK and worked in private nurseries aswell as a playgroup setting, I did do some training for childminding, however due to husband working shifts we decided it wasn't a good idea.
I'm just wondering tho as we plan on renting for the first few years wether I would be able to do any childminding type work from home?
Was just trying to think of some work I could do until my daughter goes to school in 2 - 3 years time?

we rent and my wife does family daycare from home through the shire council
we had to get written permission from our landlord ( who is great ) and she had to do all her qualifications for it like cert 3 childcare and first aid
we had to also do a lot of things to the house to comply which was a lot of hoop jumping but after a while she has been up and running for the past few months
the issue you may have is if the landlord doesnt give you permission ours contacted his insurance company and they said no they wouldnt cover him if we had childcare business , he told us to still go through with it as we have our own seprate business insurance for it and he d worry about the consequences later on ( as i say he is really really easy going )
any questions please feel free to contact me / her
