Default Can you get Scheese in australia?

I saw this in the Jonathan Ross show at the weekend (thanks to UKNova) it sounds disgusting... an authentic looking and tasting non-dairy, animal-free alternative to traditional cheese.

INGREDIENTS:
UV treated, filtered water
Hydrogenated rapeseed oil
Soybean concentrate (non GMO)
Soybean isolate (non GMO)
Spirit vinegar
Salt
Lactic acid (non animal, from glucose)
Flavourings (non-animal)
Carrageenan

They do soy cheese in Coles but although I am allergic to dairy I haven't tried it as it doesn't look very appetising I have never got used to soy milk either . But if this stuff is OK and it is available then I would love to know. I will have to check out the stuff in Coles and Safeway a bit more carefully as this looks excellent.

Nicky, are you allergic to all dairy products or just bovine?

All, it isn't life threatening just causes arthritis which is enough of a reason to avoid it. I can have small amounts but have to regulate it very carefully it is a case of balancing the yum I want that with the ouch I wish I hadn't had that . I had been on pills all my life and then got this diagnosed in Belgium and am off all painkillers now, so things like this are very interesting as I pine for toasted cheese sandwiches and pizza .

Mmmm... Hydrogenated rapeseed oil. That's really good for ones health!

Plus it's probably GM. Carrageenan is suspected of being carcinogenic (http://www.ukfoodguide.net/e407.htm). The flavourings could be anything and I personally wouldn't trust soy, even if it said non-GMO.

As a cheese lover, I feel sorry for anyone who likes cheese and is allergic or intolerant of dairy produce. I don't think we appreciate how much dairy goes into other things until we can't have it. Same with wheat...
