Can my wife (a registered nurse) apply for a temporary residency visa whilst we await a decision on our Australian PR visa (lodged London 07/01). Our PR application is based on my skill as my wife was on maternity leave at the time of TRA application and didnt meet the 'hours worked' requirement.
Any thoughts? Or are we just getting desperate? |
Hi Dominic,
In some Australian overseas posts people are being positively encouraged to do exactly what you are proposing to do. Go for it :) Cheers George Lombard www.austimmigration.com.au Dominic > > > > > > > > |
Sometimes people who have applied for PR have problems getting temporary visas as
they have displayed 'migration intent' by applying for PR. Normally it's best to get the temporary visa first and then apply for PR. However, if you're from a Western country (I'm assuming you're British) this is generally less of a problem. And if Australian embassies are encouraging people to go down this route, it's also a good sign. If you go to Australia on a temporary visa, you will have to leave the country to be granted your PR visa. But it is possible to get this in Auckland or Singapore - there's normally no need to go back to London.
