Hi all,
I want to open an account with the "National" for tranfering our house proceeds too once weve exchanged the money.

Can I open one whilst in the UK?
What documentation will they need? (will they need my current bank account statements for 1yr, not sure I have them all).

I don't know about National, but the Commonwealth Bank are very geared up to deal with migrants going to Australia and NZ:

Another one to try would be Westpac - however you can't withdraw funds until you are in Australia (but I don't think you can we any anyway).

Have you considered HSBC ? we used them with no problems. Avoid commonwealth they were a pain.

you could have an ozzie account, but you should look seriously at INGdirect,
you can link a savings maximizer to your national account and earn INTEREST ! No bank fees either
