Default can children obtain their own visa????

Does anyone know if A young person aged 16 years could travel to Australia and stay on a tourist visa for upto 12 months......
They would be staying with a family member and have funds????
Has anyone had experience with this ??? All replies have been great but only relevant to people aged over 18 years ....

Even though a 16 year old would still have to pay an adult fare?? can get married .smoke etc.... can they have their own visa???? thanks

They can - indeed must have - their own visa. The issue is what type and whether it will let the stay for a year.
They can certainly travel to Oz on their own and gain entry on a normal tourist visa. However I don't think that they can stay for a year on it.
There is the working holiday visa where they can stay for a year, but not sure whether you can have that at 16 rather than 18 and whether they would want to /be able to work.
Sorry not much help - sure others will be along soon

Why don't you just apply and see, it doesn't seem anyone has experience of this as you have been asking for a couple of days now.

What would he do about school? He won't be able to attend school in Australia on a tourist visa.

This is the third time you've asked this same question. Have you contacted a migration agent yet? Have you read any of the links provided yet? Nobody here knows the answer to your question so why have you not asked the people who would know - namely migration agents?

In another thread Quoll explained that the school leaving age here in Australia is 17, so what is he planning to do? He can't work on a tourist visa and can only attend school for 3 months (for which his guardian would have to pay international fees).

Bum around on street corners next to Macca's on a BMX. Seems to be all the rage nowadays.
