Hi Keith,
A blue card is like a health and safety certificate which you can do online in about 20 mins. It'll come back to you in the form of a credit card style thing! It's cheap as chips to do. My ex did his when we were in Oz and it cost around $60 ish I think.
Just be prepared to wait quite a while for a response from any job that you apply for. Employers seem to be notoriously slow in getting back to you. (The same is happening here in the UK as I'm finding out for myself).
Good Luck.

Would love to go back before visa runs out, but have a new partner now and he wants to check Oz out first before committing to a move over there. Just need to save up to take him out there. Hopefully one day....................

Thinking that too. If its going to be in qld, look at TAFE you certainly need a course, then the licence..... wouldnt be surprised if you didnt need some sort of insurance too, protect yourself from litigation.

'twas part of the reason the old man was unemployed for so long when we arrived. Not only did he need the security license to do his type of work but he needed a bunch of other licenses and police/security checks. Mind you, he isn't in security per se, but does do work on secure sites.

Thats very nice of you Syd, very nice? I am a tad worried, have to keep the foxes from the door, do not have a big welcome stash like many. So must get doing what i do best, making the world secure, with a special focus on Southport Shopping Center!

Don't reckon anything can get in your way, Mooney... not even locked doors!

Hi Moony!
Just to let you know that once you have passed the certificate you have to apply for the licence. You need to have your UK police check to do this and they then check up with the UKPA again. It took 8 weeks for OH's licence to come through!
Just so that you are forewarned....
