Have a HP Photosmart 2610 printer/fax/scanner thing and went to buy for the first time a cartridge for it as ran out, so went into Big W and bought the one that said it fits the above!! Come home and it is slightly different but fits and now printer is flashing up Not Correct Cartridge and wont print!

I just wondered if anyone had any ideas, as the one I have bought and put in is shorter than old one but does fit and is now the same size as the Colour cartridge!!

If this makes any sense to anyone will be a miracle, as Ihave just confused myself!!

Anyway HELP!!!!

To be honest I had a similar problem with an Epson printer I brought over from the UK. Did you buy yours in the UK and ship it over to Oz as well? It wasn't until I'd got to Oz that I found out that it hadn't been sold over here (there were similar models but the cartridges were slightly different!) so ended up binning it!

I know this is prob'ly not what you want to hear but failing that, I would try going to a specialist ink cartridge shop or pc supplier instead? I had a look at HP's Oz website for this printer but they didn't have the consumables listed so I can't confirm the model number you need. Sorry about that but I hope you have more luck than I did with my printer!!

we also had to change three printers due to not being the same size as the uk ones one epsom and two hp's maybe worthwhile telling peeps in the uk to get rid ogf the printers

I have an HP printer similar to yours and the best place is to go to the shopping mall and there should be ink refill booth or shop which will replace your cartridges instantly don't bother going to an office supplies or printer shop as you will find it too confusing.
Like op said you might have to replace printer.We had same problem when we first moved to NZ and shocked at how expensive cartridges are over here.

Oh, crap my HP printer/scanner has just arrived. So have not tried the cartridges here. Mine was bought in Europe.

This happened to us too.We rang HP and they said that Australian cartridges won't go in an English printer but we could re-format the printer.They gave us instructions over the phone which made the printer print out numbers which we then had to key in but it didn't work as we had no ink which was why we'd bought new cartridges in the first place!!!
Anyway,they sent us a new printer which did take the new cartridges!!
Give them a ring,it'll save the cost of a new one!

We had the same problem with our HP all in one. I phoned HP and they said that we had to re-format our printer to Australian cartridges. To do this you need to have new Australian cartridges in the printer and then they talk you through it.

Yes did this and now working perfectly!! Cheeky buggars wanted to charge us $50 told them no way i was paying that and they did it on the phone while I hung online, all it took was them giving 5 sets of numbers and job done!! Still think it is out of order though!!
