Can anyone give my husband a job in Brisbane??!!
Im getting really panicy about us ever getting to Oz. Once he turns 30 on July 13, we are done for, if we haven't lodged the application. After reading Jeremy's reply, the only way we will get in is if we get state nomination on the new SIR Visa. Unless he gets a job offer.....anyone want to hire him?! He scrubs up really well and isnt bad looking either!
Why couldnt we have picked somewhere easy like Canada!

Hi Lucy,
Don't despair it will turn out OK - be patient
As regards nomination / sponsorship, not every person or company can do it, they need to meet certain strict criteria set by DIMIA.
The company needs to have a certain number of employees (over twenty I believe) a turnover of such an amount and be in business for a minimum number of years.
Have you tried STNI visa ? any age under 45 can apply, although only VIC, WA and TAS are involved in this scheme - not QLD. The SIR visa seems so confusing and without proper guidelines and instructions as regards application - how and where do you submit the application and how long do you wait for nomination ? I don't believe they have even sorted out the distance outside the regional area you must be - QLD is a huge state, imagine if they say it is upwards of 100 miles from Brisbane you must live !!! :scared:
Ask your agent about STNI, it might solve all your problems and get you that visa.
Good luck and don't despair it will work out eventually - all good things come to those that wait

Otherwise, I have to wait until Nov / Dec to be able to satisfy the requirements of the ACS, start the visa process, then wait until 2006 to get PR :scared:
PS Can anybody in Brisbane offer *me* a job?
