Default Campsites in Qld

Hello

Currently living in Brisbane and looking at going camping soon, but undecided on where to go. Family orientated locations preferred, with 2 girls aged 10 & 11. Was looking at around noosa initially.

Any comments and or suggestions welcome, please!

Regards

Mark

These sites have lots of info on them.

We've been to Elanda point a few times, not far from Noosa but they were badly affected by the floods before Easter so not sure if they're up and running again. Nice lake there, really safe, canoeing etc (you can hire them out). Kangaroos come down to the lake in the morning/evening. Lovely spot.

Thunderbird Park is good, horse riding, tree top walks, skirmish and looking for thunder eggs.

Only $8 a night to stay too.

http://www.thunderbirdpark.com/

Or Cotton tree Caravan park in Maroochydore

Or Neurum Creek Bush Resort, which has loads for the kids to do.

This time of year you could try Borumba Dam. Most camp sites have a fire with logs set around it to sit on which is great for winter. You get free entry to the Deer Park (also a campground) up the road. The Deer Park has a creek with canoes, night time disco's for the kids (check whether year round), swings, deers, heaps of kids etc. Come to think of it you may prefer to stay there. The little town of Imbil nearby is the termination stop for the Rattler, an old steam train that does tours through the Mary Valley: http://www.thevalleyrattler.com/.

It's all just behind Maleny area. Recommend a stop at the Bellbird Creek Teahouse - 3409 Maleny-Kenilworth Road for lunch.

The nearby Charlie Moreland campgrounds is always highly recommended but I haven't made it there yet. I think it comes out as the best in south east qld in my camping book.
