Campbelltown and surround suburbs
It looks like it's going to be Campbelltown area now not Wagga Wagga
Any comments on the area
From reading numerous threads I've gleened that Leumeah is a bit rough, Mount Annan is near a large tip
Glen Alpine and Ambarvale look nice
I also understand it's not the big apple, however, I'm originally from Cornwall and currently live in Sharjah, rather than Dubai in the UAE.
As long as there's food shops/schools/elec/running water - I'm in for the quieter way of life - if the walls start talking, will be replacing car (as we're left hand drive here), will drive
Any comments would be greatly appreciated

I didn't know that Mount Annan has a tip - I'd say it was more famous for having some fantastic botanical gardens. Check out Harrington Park. This suburb has a good reputation and a poster on here (can't remember their name) lives there and has posted first-hand about it.
The Campbelltown area is a good place in that the cost of housing is not extortionate (as per other parts of Sydney). If you work locally and don't need to travel to the city much, then it's even better. There are big shopping malls nearby and it's relatively easy to get to Wollongong and its gorgeous beaches (which are closer than the Sydney beaches).

Re: Campbelltown and surround suburbs
Hi S.
I'm heading to Campbelltown 5 weeks tomorrow.
Ive spoken to a few people and done lots of surfing to get info on the area.
for housing the main areas i was told to definately avoid are:
Claymore
Airds
Rosemeadow
Ambervale
St Helens Park
Good Areas:
Blair Athol
Mt Annan
Bradbury
Ingleburn
Glen Alpine
We are probably going to have a look at Bradbury area first. Close to town centre, my work, school looks ok, parks, outdoor public pool, shopping malls. All within about one mile. We are also on a very tight budget and prices look OK here.
the census website is good for getting an idea of each suburbs demographic make up.
http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/ABS...rumb=L&topic=&
I think you need an actual street name from the suburb you are searching for.
A few property agents in Campbelltown:

Re: Campbelltown and surround suburbs
I'd be careful in this particular part of Sydney ....some areas can be a little rough (being polite)....
It it was me, and I had to work in that area, I'd be considering a half hour commute to get myself into a nicer area.....
Good luck!

Re: Campbelltown and surround suburbs
Thank you all
I found this Nicky recently and seen it before about being careful in the summer with the heat and the smells
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...t=campbelltown
Yes forgot to mention I'd seen warnings about Macquarie Field and was also warned about Ingleburn due to its close proximity Andy2?
Graniteman (Andy2)
Sweet, tyvm for the info and the links - are you going on a scout in 5 weeks or is it the big move ? Would love to keep in touch with you for updates
AndyR1976
How about Camden? 15 mins from C/town? Boss wants hubby 1 hour from Sydney airport and business acquaintances of his recommended C/town and southern suburbs, hence we've been 'advised' to look at C/town
Thank you so much everyone

Good luck with the move, hon
We couldn't be further away if we wished, we're from the Cornish/Devon border originally
Hubby will be resigning next week I think, one months notice , then off to Switzerland for a couple of weeks with the new Boss, and then both of them off to C/town to set up the business. In the meantime me and 7 year old daughter get to stay in the sun and pack up the house and finish the school year - then to go to Oz and have her re-sit half the school year - she's not a happy chicken about that LOL, but she's wrapped about the possibility of cycle tracks and picnics, rivers and ponds - we don't get much of that here in the Middle East.
again good luck with the move to you and yours - keep in touch
