Anyone know of any good camp sites in or around Melbourne?

You could set your tent up outside one of the banks in the city centre and claim your are protesting!
Seriously, there isn't a lot. Land costs to much to have camps in the city. Look what www.big4.com.au has. I think their's are the closest (but expensive). Much cheaper to stay in back packer hostels.

the closest free one would be Johanna beach its just off the great ocean road a bit over an hour from melbourne by car I don't think there is train access but you might be able to get a bus
