Calling all British Expat families in Perth
Hi all,
I'm a dual national (Aussie-Brit) and am living in Melbourne at the
moment (lived here for 3 years and 18 months in NZ before that).
Itchy feet are moving me on to Perth with my husband, 3 year old and
newborn come January (all going well).
I'm keen to touch base with other family folk in Perth ahead of our
departure from Melbourne in a vague attempt to build a network in
advance - we have a good one here and I'm loathed to leave it but I
miss living near the sea (as in 2 minutes drive not 40 to a Bay
Beach).
Soon to travel out to Perth to check it out also so would welcome the
opportunity to meet up with some of you.
Please post replies here if interested in helping out/general chat and
I will email in due course.
Many thanks and good luck to all those who are still waiting for visas

With children it's very important I think to have a network as it can be very isolating otherwise hence my post. Three boys?! Crikey. Tips welcome!
I think we're going to fly out to Perth around mid-October for a rekkie. I have family there (Mum was born there) but I haven't been in touch with them for years - distant cousins, Gt. Uncle in his 80s etc. So better than nothing of course but essentially I'll be starting from scratch.
What made you decide on Perth?
Husband is in IT but it looks to be dire in Perth so he may have to rethink his career plan...
Cheers for posting!

Hi there,
I ( Paul) am also dual Aussie-Brit and we Paul, Helen, Kieran(5) and Connor (1) are arriving in perth 28 October 2004.
We will also be trying to establish a network of friends etc when we get there, looking at the number of people heading for Perth should be quite a few people doing the same.

[QUOTE=Jacko1]Hi there,
I ( Paul) am also dual Aussie-Brit and we Paul, Helen, Kieran(5) and Connor (1) are arriving in perth 28 October 2004.
All going well, we're flying in to Perth for 2 weeks, from 20th October, returning to Melbourne 3 November. Perhaps we could hook up?! No idea where we'll be staying yet - just waiting on husband to get dates confirmed for holiday from his place of work so no flights are being booked until that's happened. Probably near the city though and we'll hire a car to get a good look around. Still yet to hear a bad thing said against Perth. Do feel free to email me - I'm not sure when we're going to make it over to Perth - I've got a second son to have yet! ...but as soon as we can sell the house here and husband gets a job etc. Helps of course that we are already IN Australia I guess - we don't have any visa issues and all that jazz.
Email address earlier up on this thread. Seems so much easier to meet people going to Perth than Melbourne. Definitely much more of an 'English' city it seems but I could be wrong there. I guess I'll be finding out soon.
Safe flight and good luck!

How are things for us mums out there? I would love to try some pole dancing, is it you that always suggests this on the other threads, as I'm only picking up on peoples user names now? Hi there
If you take a quick peek into The Glass Shoe Diaries or my Banana Diary, you'll get some idea of what we all get up to.
I am fortunate to have met a great, NO bloody fantastic group of girls who I'll be meeting up with tommorrow at our regular Perth Ladies Club
You won't be at all lonely with us lot and you'll be more than welcome, all you need is painted toe nails (ain't that right Maggy darling ??) BIG shoes and a warped sense of humour and you'll be fine!!
Just post on here when you are due over or pm either me, Siren, Maggy, Vegimite kids or Swifts (the soon to be Madame Sin)
Good luck and 'no worries'
