Cairns meet during Easter 2008
 

Now that the Christmas festivities are over I thought I would start a post about a Cairns meet up around Easter possibly Saturday 22 March. I would have been there a week or so by then but if someone could suggest a venue, time, etc. or something that usually happens I'll be there.

There seems to be a few new people who will be there in March and would be good to meet up to share advice, etc.

Any thoughts...

May not quite be there by the 22nd but we will be having a big BBQ in April for any expats in Cairns who want to come..we need Bix to teach us how to BBQ Oz style! I keep writing user names down of people arriving in Cairns March- June time as there seems to be a lot. We will all be in the same boat so would be good to start a network up for regular meets etc.

Sounds good, I know there are more people who will be in Cairns, it just seems that they haven't seen the post!

Read abt this on another thread this morning and told Bix who was totally unaware of it! We will def try and be there - would be lovely to meet everyone:-) As for venue and time - depends on how many young children will be coming really as they will need something to keep them 'happy' lol!

We went to the Trinity Beach Sports Club recently and thought it was well good - met up with a few expats and had a good laugh! It is a big place and right on the beach front. Most places will be really busy over Easter w/end which is something to take into account.
The Lagoon and Muddies areas on the Esplanade are good for families with younger kids, lots of BBQ areas and fun water activities etc to keep them busy! We have a 21 and 19 yr old so our days of worrying abt that are over - aaahhhh lovely!

There are many other places of course just thought I wld mention the above.

Damn...will need to find me another master BBQ chef then to teach me...Bix da Boss?!!!!!
I may be there for Easter booze up depending when visa comes through but Jen will be following a month or so later...depends when meet is. There will be many more I am sure of that.

Does that mean you can cook a mean BBQ?? Do I have a master BBQ chef to learn from? You can still drink plenty of beer at the same time!
Do they all use gas BBQ's over there like many do here now?

Hi Liz - its da boss here (cant be bothered to keep logging in and out)!

Yes, mainly gas in Cairns. Thats what we have and all our friends have anyway.
As for Bix cooking well, he aint bad after a bit of pushing:sneaky: Left him to it a few times and hey presto - he is now our BBQ king - well, if its burgers and sausages that is lol:D Our youngest son, Nathan is also a good cook on the BBQ - so you see Liz, I have it easy - yeah right;)
