Buying a used car (QLD) - road worthy cert vs mechanic inspection
Hi all,
I'm posted this because I have someone staying with me and she's buying her first car. She's a student so the car she's looking at is a 1999 and is $3000.
What I'm wondering is how reliable is the road worthy certificate that comes with the vehicle. She'll be getting it from a small dealership/wholesaler that also has a 1 month warranty.
Is a road worthy certificate comprehensive enough to know you're getting a decent car and not a lemon, or should she shell out the cash for a mechanics inspection. I had a look at RACQ and it looks like something like that would cost anywhere from $125-250. Is that how much it would cost for a basic check over, or can it be done cheaper elsewhere?
Also... anyone can anyone recommend any car dealerships or mechanics around Moorooka?
