You shouldn't have too many problems unless there is something written into the block's Body Corporate rules. If in doubt check with the relevent Body Corporate chairperson in the unit block or the real estate agent.

Buying - you should have NO problem
Renting - maybe some problems, but nearly everyone I know that is renting has dogs and cats

thanks for that, it's reassuring. We rent at the moment (house though) We did struggle a bit finding a rental, esp units just wondered if we would have the same problem when we buy as we can only afford a unit.

If it were written into the body corporate rules I wouldn't worry too much.
I know a few people who've had indoor cats that never leave the unit. As long as the body corp doesn't find out, you won't have a problem.
Just don't go inviting any nosey old baby boomer neighbours over who will easily accept a coffee and biscuit on one hand, but be on the phone dobbing you in to the body corp on the other.
Keep clear of any anti-british ppl too. Especially if you beat us in any type of sport the week before.

I did have probs getting a rental, 14wks it took due to having a cat. it is a unit and has it own garden, appartment type units may be different entirely. We have just bought a property and the first thing i checked was the title.
Good luck
