Default Buying a TV in UK to send to Aus

Hi everyone...just over a month now till we depart for Melbourne. Been wondering if its worth getting a TV while still in England & shipping it to Aus, there are some really good deals around at the moment but not sure of costs involved, Can we claim back the VAT here & pay GST at the other end?

No

You cannot claim the vat back, as you are an EU resident.
You cannot claim the GST cos for some reason its your property, in fact you possibly will be liable for import duty, not that they would charge you.

Buy a TV here.. cheap as chips

Buy a laptop in UK before you go. They are ridiculous prices in Oz. Buy some quality clothes as well if you like to look smart.

Well its good to hear the prices are reasonable over there, so will wait.

Have heard elsewhere its a good idea to stock up on clothes especially work suits & shirts. Luckily I have 3 laptops though
