Sasha...try www.flightcentre.com.au

They also have shops in most malls etc. We went to the one in Glenelg last week ot enquire about us paying for tickets for my daughters and grandkids to fly here from London. The guy said it was not a problem, so i would imagine you could do what you want to do also.

Hmmmmm...

I think there are some issues with buying tickets from the non-departing country since plane tickets are cheaper in other countries.

For example :

You are not allowed to buy tickets in Australia for people departing to Australia.

I was told by Qantas last year and several years ago by another airline.

Maybe the rules have changed. But this guy printed out a quote wiht exact prices and payment method for us to do it with Malaysian airlines from Heathrow return.

I reckon that as long as you have a RRV (resident return visa) you should have no problems.
Can you give a friends address though, just in case ?

every time i got a quote from airlines agent in uk for one ways to oz,they always ask me if i have an oz visa.

i thought i,d double check incase it turned out that there was some complications involved..

annb Dec 11th 2003 12:57 pm

that would be because you arent allowed into the country on a one way ticket so they would just be checking that you have the right visa to be able to come across one way....if you have a working visa or resident visa you can come in one way

As well as the info from Annb - The reason they want to know if you have an Oz visa, is firstly, cos the airline won't carry you without one (cos they'd have to bring you straight back at their own expense when the Aussies refuse you entry), and secondly, cos if they can process an ETA (tourist visa) for you, then they make money out of it (its cheaper to do it online yourself)!!
