Question Buying/Insuring car with no fixed address

Hello ,

Just wondering whether any of you who bought a car as soon as arriving in Oz, while residing in a hotel, had any problems with insuring/registering it?
  • I'll only have a UK license
  • We'll be in hotel for 3 weeks, so not sure if this is acceptable to insurance companies or car registration agency
Thanks for any advice

We waited until we got our rental before taking out fully comp insurance as it's not compulsory to have it. With the rego, we used my Aunt's address (which probably isn't any good to you, sorry )

If you are only in the hotel for 3 weeks then why not wait? You will probably be made to swap your license over when you go in to the auhority to register the car as well so then when you change your address after 3 weeks you will be stuck with a change of address sticker on the back until your license need to be renewed, and believe me, they dont last

Bayswater have a corolla for AUD 25/day inc CDW equivalent. So cheap you might as well just rent one while you get settled.
