Buying cheap groceries in Perth
Help! - My £ isnt going too far at the moment - is there anywhere to buy cheap groceries in Perth??
There doesnt seem to be an Aldi here and the supermarkets all seem very expensive, as do the markets - is there a cheaper option??

We was actually down at the Wanneroo market yesterday, it was packed. The fruit is ok the prices are better than coles/woolies, plus it helps local growers.

In Innaloo there's a fruit/veg shop (I think it's called Innaloo 7 day fresh) in the same shopping centre as probably the best fish shop in Perth (which is not cheap). We have not found cheaper anywhere else.

I ask cos we will be there with no car for a short while ok maybe a long while so will need cheap areas to shop for a family that are accesible on buses or by walking.
Thanks Avi

Spud sheds are good... For cheap food, beware some of their non fresh produce stuff isnt cheap... But their tinned chocolate rice pudding IS the cheapest i've fou d it anywhere... Hoppalongkid is addicted to the stuff..
Look out for clearance and specials in coles... I have shower gels at 99cts for 500mls stocked ceiling high..
Also the 'green' washing liquids are DEAD cheap in co parrison to 'normal' stuff.. Per wash load..
Whiskas 77 cts a tin is week... Not that you can make many family meals from tins of whiskas... Othere than shepherds pie
Frozen veg are often cheaper than fresh... Less wastage
A chest freezer helps for when you do find those specials and can bulk buy for future use...

Subiaco
Subiaco Station Market http://www.yoursubi.com.au/category/...ctory/markets/
Subiaco Farmers Market http://subifarmersmarket.com.au/
Farmer Jacks (Crossways shopping centre, opposite Subiaco Farmers Market)
IGA (Hay St)
Coles (near Farmer Jacks)
Woolworths (near station)
Walk or cycle in Shenton Park
Shenton Park
IGA
I found a website for Farmer Jacks weekly specials, a FoodWorks website. Interestingly, there are online catalogues for every state except NT, ACT and WA. NT doesn't have Farmer Jacks, but the other 2 states do. Anyway, it might give you an idea on prices in those states from a store other than Coles or Woolworths: http://www.foodworks.com.au/weekly-specials

Stock rd Markets (corner of stock road and spearwood ave, Bibra Lake) are really cheap and I'm talking a third of the price of the supermarkets. There's 2 places that sell fruit/veg/groceries so competition is good. I go there once a week and fill my boot for $40. There's a continental butcher there to that do good English pork sausages and black pudding
