Default Buying cars on Sunshine Coast

Hi

We are due to arrive on Sunshine Coast in a couple of weeks.
We need to buy a second hand car more or less straight away.
We are looking at buying a Honda CRV.

Can any recommend any decent garages/sales rooms, etc.

Is there anything we need to look out for when buying which differs from the UK?

Cheers
Jo

I think that carsales.com.au or tradingpost.com.au (or equivalent would be a place to start). Re yards I am sure there are plenty but as always "caveat emptor".

Re buying a car they will need to have a safety certificate issued and you will need to get the car registered. A nice set of taxes based on various sliding feeseg on the price as well as the engine size/number of cylinders.

The other thing to look out for would be water damage. Lots of cars have were effected by last years floods.

If you can afford it buy from a main dealer for peace of mind & a worthwhile warranty, as for being expensive - yes they are but they also hold they're value so its swings & roundabouts. Dont be afraid to make silly offers as well most dealers are struggling to meet their targets.

Just make sure it's not been used for playing on the beach, the salt water rots them quicker than anything.

The stamp duty you need to pay the state government, which is normally on top of the price you see. Not sure how it works out in Qld though.
