Default Buying apartment off plan

We are considering buying a new apartment off-plan, which will not be completed until 2010. (Not actually sold house in UK yet! and hopefully receive our visas in about 6 weeks as we have paid our 2nd VAC for our Contributory Parent subclass 143)

We have no idea if this is a good idea or not. Does anyone have any experience of this and if so are there any pitfalls to look out for?

Pam

Assuming this is in Aus I'd definitely hang on for a while... there's a lot of people predicting a serious correction in the value of house prices over here...

Thanks for that info. Dr. Who.....Yes it is in Aus.

Maybe by the time we actually arrive the house prices will have come down!
