Default Business Visa's

Hi
Is there such a thing as a business visa these days. We are looking at all our options to emigrate to Oz including Student Visa's, but heard about a 457ie visa which allows you to gain permanent residency if you buy a business in Australia. Is this still available???

We'd be looking at buying a hairdressing and beauty business once my daughter has completed her Modern Apprenticeship here in the UK. We have no prior experience in running a business so would this go against us. Thanks in anticipation of your replies.

I've not looked into this area but here is a link to DIMA's business visa page.

Good luck with your plans

Hi there,

There is such a visa - we're out on one, the 163. You have to have a proven business record however and have been running a successful business for two years (as well as upteen other criteria......).

Once out here, it's not straight PR. We are temporary residents until 2010 and we have to meet certain criteria before that date. If we don't, Dimia are within their rights to chuck us out!

Good luck with whatever path you choose - but the 163 is not an easy option!

Jules

Thanks Jules

Guess that counts us out then as we do not own a business in the UK. I guess you had a business up and running before you applied for your visa.

maybe if you post on the australia immigration forum, one of the experts there might give you an idea of which possible route to follow.

As has already been stated, the 163 & 457 are both temporary visa not PR. If you get in on one of these visa's you still need to apply for PR after a certain period of time. Having lived in Oz on the temp visa does help towards earning PR, but there are a lot of other things involved, and the 163 is only for people with previous business experience of their own.

Thanks rammygirl and furkew for your advice. We'll spend some time researching business visa's over the weekend.
