Or i should say which airline gives you the most legroom in economy? My husband doesnt agree with paying for business class so as long as he's happy in economy with my daughter i will struggle in business class!

Hi There,

We flew business class when we emigrated 6 months ago It was our treat to ourselves and 3 kids one being 5yrs. We flew air NZ as they have the best business class with 6ft beds that lay flat, Yes my 5yr ols probably would have slept in economy but on me so I would not have slept. It was a once in a life time experience , we flew via LA and NZ so was a long flight but didn matter because of the comfort. Would highly recommend it (food not great for young kids though).

Another bonus double luggage allowance. Jodi.

I agree with everyone else it depends on what you can afford and what you priorities are. I have flown a lot in different classes and on different airlines. My choice for economy would be Singapore or Virgin because of the on demand entertainment systems.

Not all business classes are created equal and its always a cost for service trade off. When we flew out we went cathay business and at 2000gbp return and this was pretty good. I would also recommend Virgin upper as the service is fantastic better than most 1st class products and cheaper too. Book in advance for the best fares and look at different days of the week etc..

However on most intercontinental flights I take a travel sickness tablet that makes me sleep, so I sleep all the way through so it doesn't matter which class you travel in!!

We thought about it but couldn't justify the expense.

Bought round the world tickets instead. :p

To be honest, I can't see how it is.

It costs. I don't mind 12 hours of 'discomfort' as a once every few years thing when that money might be 1 or 2 months rent on landing.

Now, if you are loaded - that's a different thing entirely.

We flew business on most legs of our 'tour' around Oz and NZ, it was well worth it.

We also flew business when we emigrated. Worth it at the time, but I'm more canny now and would rather it went into the house or for something more 'long term'.

Still, life's for living so have some fun!!

I've done the trip a couple of times with JAL via Tokyo in Economy - but there is a trick to make it more comfortable which worked for me both times.

The Tokyo-Aus leg is in a 747 that has a top deck that is Economy class, but with Business Class seats. Food and entertainment are still economy class, but the seats of course are much more comfortable!

When you check-in, just ask for a seat in the top deck!

Yes it is worth it, but only when someone else is paying (the only occasions on which I've travelled business class) or money is no object! Otherwise, as others have said, just grin and bear it and use the money for something that lasts a bit longer.
