Re: Business Class Airfares to UK / Europe - approx $2700 - $2800 rtn!
Good luck, Keefymonster. I sympathise, we had similar problems with a BMI ticket where TAP canx the daily flight we had booked and made it a day later. A day earlier would have been fine but they refused to budge and in the end we had no choice but to cancel.
This all happened after BMI had been taken over by BA, so they were no longer in Star Alliance at that point, which made it all the more difficult. Hopefully US still being in Star now should make things easier, but I suspect a lot of people will end up in the same limbo as happened with BMI if flight changes need to be made after they leave.

Hi BC,
When I called US the operator put me through to another person I assumed she was a supervisor. Guess not. she told me Thai had to fix it.
You are right, today Thai told me US have to fix it.
Thai told me to tell US to wait list me for the am flight and they (Thai) will do want they can, but they can't do anything until the wait list request is in.

I had a similar problem last year: Thai cancelled a flight and US rebooked me on the same flight number the next day, which would have resulted in missing a connection in Sydney. Thai Brisbane worked out for me the best solution to the problem but US had to actually change the ticket (which they did as a waitlist wasn't involved - there always seem to be spare seats in First!).

I believe there are empty seats on the am flight just not any empty award seats....
I'm now waiting for us to answer the phone.

The US supervisor states they can not put us on a wait list.
The choice is cancel flights or alternative itinerary.
She is now looking for alternatives.....

You take BNE-BKK on the 18th TG474 1400-2020 - it's available in business. It's TG's new 777 with full flat business class beds. Then connect to your originally scheduled flight to CDG in F. Hopefully US will let any double open jaws etc through given the circumstances.

Thanks BC, you are a *
I'm still waiting to connect.
Leaving BNE and arriving SYD will not be the only open jaw.
We already have one.
As soon as I get to speak to a supervisor I will run that idea past them.

So........
US would not allow the TG474 BNE>BKK.
She said there were multiple options but the connection was so poor it was very hard to hear what she was saying.
Anyway, we keep the TG 472 > BKK and connect with LH773 at 12:10 I class > FRA>MAN
Not happy about losing the A380 1st seats, but that will be something to look forward to on the return trip.
Bloody stressful but could have been a lot worse.
BC thank you for your help/advice, and thanks to the others for their support.
Has any one flown on the LH773 BKK>FRA?
If you have and it's rubbish, please make something up........
Regards
Keef

Recently flew Business from Brisbane to Singapore and back, with Singapore airlines, it was ok the service in flight was only average, once you left the ground, we were never asked if we wanted anything other than at meal times.
The Silver Kris lounge in Singapore was ok nothing special,i don't rate them as highly as Thai Airways, but it was convenient.

I've just been looking around.
Apparently business on the BKK to FRA on the A340 is not that good!
Is this idea possible?
LH release their 1st seats 14 days before departure.
Can I phone US and ask them to change ours seats to 1st on the same flight?
It might cost $ but with a 9 hr lay over it would be worth it.
Does any one have an opinion?
Keef ;o)

I did think of your plan but there is one major issue. US exits *A on 31 March - so your flight is about 18-19 days after the *A exit. While US is maintaining some sort of relationship with many *A airlines, LH isn't one of them. It's very debatable as to whether they would be able to make the change...I'd think probably not.
