bulkbilling dentist

I saw a while ago on BE (i think) , somewhere on the GC that does bulkbilling dentistry. . I have searched the posts with no joy, my son needs braces in the next year or so and any help to reduce costs on basic stuff would be a great help, especially after reading some scary posts while doing a search, some prices were unbelievable... heard there was one in Helensvale. Any advice welcome or recommendations.
F. x:thumbsup:

Not for Dentists.

Other than for basic work done at school dental vans, everything in Dental work has to be paid for.

I doubt that you are ever going to find a bulk billing orthodontist! The only thing I can think of would be the cranio facial specialists who deal with cleft palate and other disorders like CCD for example - they will do it for free but not for a regular kid with an overbite.

Nope, not on the GC and they wouldn't cover braces anyway. Asprilla in Brissie has a bulk billing dentist but don't know who, where or whether they still have open lists.

I want to hear more about this.... unless of course they are on the "Medicare chronic disease dental scheme".

Dental isn't covered by medicare, so I don't see how there can be such a thing as a bulkbilling dentist. Even if you have private medical insurance there are very low "lifetime limits" for orthodontics unfortunately.

call Griffith University Dental at 5678 0220. They are 1/2 price to most dentist. There will be teaching sessions associated with them though. They do take private insurance.

I think I've been giving out some dud info. I haven't paid for any dental treatment (including fillings and a wisdom tooth extraction) - but it wasn't my medicare card I was handing over after each appt....it was my medibank private card.

By the way, I don't have any extras or dental cover, just the bog standard basic cover.

sorry for any confusion...:o

I just checked:

http://www.griffith.edu.au/health/sc...l-clinic/costs

and it says: "Discounts apply for Griffith Staff and Students for Professional Dentist rates ONLY."
Probably one of the benefits of woking at the Uni. So the half price is probably for this group.

...but still substantial saving for others as well.

Consultation $63.00 $37.30
First X-Ray $44.15 $26.15
Subsequent X-Rays $36.30 $21.50
Scale and Clean $107.00 $63.40

The clinic operates Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 7pm
Appointments can be made by contacting the Dental Clinic on 07 5678 0220 or email [email protected]
