Hello, just a short question.
As been as Brisbane, Gold coast and Sunshine coast is out for many people to go to live, can you tell me if there are any similar places in Queensland that are quite built up?
Thanks
Julie

Hi Julie,
Could you re-phrase your question please. Not quite sure what you are asking.
Are you on the bottle ?

bit like that isn't it!

Places like Mackay, Rockhampton, Cairns probably have the next biggest populations. Just have a look at a map - the bigger places will be in bold

Sorry, if you didn't understand question, not on the bottle yet, although might be shortly with kids being on summer hols.
What I meant if you can only choose the SIR route in Queensland(we do not have enough points to go skilled independant)
You cannot choose Brisbane, Gold coast or sunshine coast as these are excluded. So, are there any other areas that have a lot of amenities and things to do in Queensland where a family can settle?
Sorry if this is still not clear, I don't know how else to put it.

Plenty of places that are nice small towns. What kind of work will you be looking for - that might influence what is available.

Is SIR not the one which is done by postcodes?? If so some of the postcodes are actually within about 30mins of Brisbane CBD.

Areas eligible for both SIR and Skilled Designated Area Sponsored are designated by postcodes - but they are *not* the same.
For example, Canberra and Melbourne are eligible for Skilled Designated Area Sponsored, but not for SIR.
To the OP, take a look at the Queensland map to see the larger towns away from the Brisbane area. There are quite a few.
SIR eligible areas in Queensland are here:
http://www.immi.gov.au/migration/skilled/regional.htm
QLD will not be sponsoring offshore SIR applicants until October. In the meantime, if you can find an employer in regional Queensland keen to hire you, you can go for the RSMS employer nominated visa and not need to worry about SIR.
