Building in WA/Kithomes: Help!

Dear all,
hope you had a great Christmas! Even here in Margaret River it got up to 42.6
degrees...pffff! Bit hot hey?
Now my question: after watching the market for ages, we have finally bought a block near Margaret River. Without ever having had plans to build, that is exactly what we need to be doing soon. We have a very modest budget seeying as the land is so expensive, and now we are looking at a Kit home.
Has anyone had experience with building a Kit home? Is Ross Squire any good? How much does the average builder charge and can anyone recommend someone?
Any info would be very, very welcome as building is a scary business, you can only do it once on a block and it has to be right!
Thanks heaps!

Yes... we built a steel frame home in kingscliff (nsw/qld border)
Its aluminum coated so should'nt rust also bolted not welded together,so no expansion noises when hot or cold.
Cost more that timber, but don't have too worry about termites.
Pretty easy to put together including the floors, roof trusses, windows and doors all pre-jammed,eg....took a day only to hang all the doors.

I would look seriously at steel framed kits, very pleased with mine.....

all the best plumb.....
ps tradies will try and put you off them....main reason because they can't be bothered to put the rubber grommets in the service holes provided ,when feeding cables, pipework through frame plus theres a chance of cutting a finger......
