Building a house

Hi,

We are looking at building a house in Sydney and are considering using AV Jennings or Wisdom homes - was wondering if anyone has had any experience with using these firms - whether it be good, bad or indifferent.

many thanks

AV Jennings have been around for decades and are pretty well known for being reputable. If in Sydney, take a look at Kellyville's Homeworld to get ideas on others. Never heard of the other company.

Why not buy the plans and get a builder to do the job, you will get more for your money than with the project builders.

Is there a significant difference in doing this?

I'm many years away from getting to Oz never mind buying a house but for educational purposes how would you go about "buying the plans"?

Sorry if its a daft question :o

Any of the project builders will sell their plans to you, I think the approach of any sale is better than no sale is what they look at. They obviously have the rights to all their designs and will sell them, sometimes you can buy a block of land with the planning permission already granted, it may well be the design of one of the project homes that they have sold to whoever is selling the block.
