Broadbeach
Anybody live near or in Broadbeach, Goldcoast?
That was our favourite area when we visited.
Just wondered what it was like to live there? Social side? Schools? House prices, many expats? have looked on the web at houses but it's hard to know what the streets are like.
Have been reading through the Returning To Uk threads and have picked up that some people find OZ a little quiet lifeless boring (all alittle worrying) with regards to socialising etc anyone have any experience of problems with this particularly in this or surrounding area?

Obvioulsly depends what you want I have young single teachers at my school who rent units there and have a great time eating out & drinking in bars and power walking on the beach but if its a family life you want you need to be looking nearer Robina, Currumbin etc.

I have a fab social life - with 2 kids!! Better than back in the UK. My daughter loves her school. We can afford a house far better here than we could in the UK and we are both on average wages (mines a bit crap really!)
All good really!

The quiet lifeless boring bit = well it depends what you are coming from, what you want and need.
Not sure how you would find GC any of the above but obviously some people do. It suits us down to the ground. We live in piece and quiet and have busy lively 20 - 30 minutes away.
I always thought I would love to be right on the beach but since being here, am very grateful I'm not if only because of the high cost of maintenance of property with all the salt spray. Broadbeach is a tad too close to Surfers for me to want to be there. I love surfers and I really love seeing the skyscrapers from the top of our hill but it's a visit place. It also has Schoolies which can impact slightly on Broadbeach as does the Indy.
Sure someone will argue with me but from what I read on the "returning to" forum, the lifeless, boring etc seems to be mainly Perth or Adelaide but as I said it depends on what you want.

I agree totally with you, but wait until the Perthie people read this and then there will be hell, as you know how precious they are about the wastelands of W.A.
