Default Broadband (QLD)

I know it's an old subject.
Been using Bigpond ADSL for 2 years now and my contract has expired.
Was paying $70/month, ($80 if my home phone wasn't Telstra) unlimited usage, 1,500/256 speed.
No problem with the service but want a cheaper one!
Don't mind losing some speed, use an average 1,200 MB/month (seems high but thats what Bigpond tell me!).

Foxtel is next to be cut down/eliminated and then the home phone.

Appreciate any advice or recommendations on this.

Andrew

Hi, we're on the Gold Coast (Ormeau) and have just signed up to wireless broadband with Airweb. We pay $39 a month (first month free), and no installation charge. That entitles us to 1gig of downloads a month and connection speed is 512.

Go to www.whirlpool.net.au

enter your current phone number and you will be told if your are Metro, Region 1 or 2. Take this in and go to Plan search.
Plug in what speeds you want, transfers you want and how much your are willing to pay and you will be returned a list of ISP's and plans.

I use www.aanet.com.au have a 512/128 speed connection and am very happy with it.

You can get 1gig 512 plan for $33.90 a month + $4 for every gig you use over that, you might get a way with 1 gig , big pond charge you for data up and down thats why you use more data then you think, most decent ISPs only change for data in one direction. The 8gig plan is only $38.90 as well.

coggerocks2 will become famous soon enough
Default Re: Broadband (QLD)

If you can get ADSL2 + I would recommend iinet or internode.

24,000/1000 is a whooooooooole lot faster then bigpond!

I have a 10 peak/10 off peak gig limit and never get anywhere near it.

Costs about 90 bucks a month with the phone and calls.

Hmm just checked your posts seems you want cheaper so this might not be what you want.
