Re: Broadband Prices
Hi mate, welcome to the forum. Don't know about Melbourne but here on the Sunshine Coast in QLD we mostly have ADSL not ADSL2, and I'm on a 1.5Mb, 18Gig download limit for just a tad under $60 a month. Plenty for my needs and I download a few tv shows and use a lot on chat like Skype n stuff. My ISP is TPG.
Check out www.whirlpool.net.au for the info on Aussie Broadband |
Re: Broadband Prices
Best advice is try very hard to get ADSL2+ or Cable. Reason being on a pro-rata basis ADSL2+ works out a lot cheaper, as the telcos use their own Equipment rather than using Telstras.
Like the previous poster said, Whirlpool is the place to look for the deals. If you have IInets Dslam in your area, one of these plans is probably the go, as all your local and national calls are free... only have to pay for calling mobiles and special numbers... you should get around 20 mpbs with this company. Personally I would go with the 60 gig plan 30 + 30 . http://iinet.net.au/products/naked/plans.html |

Thanks.. Circa 38quid per month with IInet. I've found it's pretty hard to use more than 60 gigs.... TPG are bringing out a 500 gig ADSL2 plan for 99 bucks per month, now that is unlimited... You have to pay telstra line rental on top though..at 30 bucks per month. Oh again with 500 mins of free voip calls per month to anyone including mobiles. |
Re: Broadband Prices
The number 1 and only rule.... avoid telstra/bigpond

I found TPG to be my best bet, they seems to have the cheapest packages if you use it quite heavily (This is for ADSL2) I'm in Sydney and i am very happy with TPG, although it takes a while to get used to having a download limit after being in the UK with no limit.

Re: Broadband Prices
In my experience, be wary of AAPT (intermittent ADSL2+ in Brisbane, about a stone's throw from the exchange, and god awful customer service helpline/email).
Primus have done an excellent job for me, but you'll probably find many who hate them and love AAPT! |
Re: Broadband Prices
Internode have been excellent for me since I got away from Bigpoo.
Have recommended to others who in turn have been happy ... :) Always in Whirlpool's top 3 ... ;) |
