Broadband in Perth

Does anyone have recommendations for broadband in Perth? We have a Telstra line and are looking for fast surfing but not too bothered about volumes as we don't download much.

Do they all have a scary 24 month contract period? Not keen on that!

Foxtel seem to want a 24 month contract too or else they charge extornionate monthly fees.

I've just signed up with Cyberone. It's 1.5mbps with no download limit, 12 month contract at $89/month. It's a bit pricey, but I plan to be hitting the bittorrent big time & did not want any download cap. I will download the tv programs I want via bittorrent rather than subscribing to Foxtel, so I'll save on that instead.

I have signed up with iinet. 100mbps with a 10GB peak and 10GB offpeak download limit per month. down side was we had to sign up for their phone service to get these limits but for us we hardly use it so it made no difference to us whether we got our service through Telstra or through iinet. 24 month contract cost $49.99 per month for the broadband and $29.99 for the phone which we were paying to Telstra anyway. Been with them about 2 months now and download Coronation St 5 times a week and am dead happy :D

Just dont go with Telstras Big pond.

iinet, westnet are probably the best options.

Westnets service is fantastic prices reasonable.

iinet prices are good but linked to there phone package which is a bit sucky for me.

Thanks for that. It's actually $70/month & drops down to 64k after 25Gb. Still a good deal though.

We're with iinet, and when we signed up to broadband recently, there were two price packages quoted - one with the phone and one without. We have kept our phone separate (with Telstra).

this is true but the speed and download limits were extremely low (for us personally) if you chose the no phone option

Bugger! I haven't been on here since posting this query - guess who I have signed up for?!

They have done me a free install / modem and half price for the first 9 months. It has only been 6 hours so far but it seems okay to me.

Why don't you recommend Big Pond?

The price for the download limits is outrageous. Becareful how many Mgs you can dl each month cos if you go over $$$$$$$. Lots of disconnections, unable to get emails etc.
