British Passport to Cost GBP85
The British passport is expected to increase in price to GBP85 by 2007:

While on the subject of passport costs, a more welcome announcement has come from the Passport Service that British citizen passports will be free for all those born on or before 2 September 1929:
http://www.passports.gov.uk/press_131004.asp
It is not clear yet whether this concession will also apply to British citizen passports issued overseas, or if it will apply to UK passports issued to other categories of British national, such as British subjects and British Nationals (Overseas).

Just as I am looking at renewing my daughters UK passport
With a childs first 5 year UK passport, can it still be extended Free of charge for another 5 years, even though it has expired (Oct 2002), and we are in Australia ?
I have a price of $95 to get a 5 year renewal on it.

It's not clear whether it's possible to get this service from the British High Commission in Canberra.
Why not just get her an Australian passport?

The new fee kicks in in 2007 - if you apply now it won't affect you, this time at least.

Re: British Passport to Cost GBP85
If I get an Aussie passport, do I need to keep the British one updated to visit the folks back in the UK?
Will I have any problems visiting friends in France (if I don't keep the British one up to date)?
Cheers
