I didn't drink beer when back home but isn't Little Creatures Ale quite close to British beer?

I haven't tasted it, but it looks far too "heady" to be a British beer and also it is very yellow looking which is quite unlike a British beer.
And the website says it is North West US style, which is quite different.

Little Creatures pale ale is very similar in taste to "Taylor's Landlord" and is a great beer in bottles but even better on tap ( if you can find it ). It's also now available in 5 litre kegs. It can't be classed as an English style Beer though, but is as good as an Aussie beer gets.

British style, cask conditioned beers would be very hard to keep well here in Australia. Most bars and hotels store their beer kegs outside in a lock-up compound / back yard until required. Of course in the warmer months this would cause a cask-conditioned ale to 'race' through it's cask conditioing and spoil very quickly. Also cellars ( if the hotel has one ) are kept at a far lower temperature than required for a real cask conditioned ale. A lot of places don't have temperature controlled storage and rely on chilled delivery systems. so warm beer gets chilled on the way to the pump. A real cask conditioned ale would suffer terribly in these conditions.

On the whole the foundations required for looking after cask conditioned Britsh Style beers does not exist here. If you had a brewery pub though where you had complete control over the beer, that would be a different story. They are popping up all over Australia now, sadly mainly catering to the Lager drinkers. Some do good British Style beers though - Lord Nelson in Sydney, Bell's Hotel in Melbourne etc.

Hi all we have a few small places down in Tassie that do English syle beer, My pick is Seven Sheds followed by Van Diemens, Both in the North of the State. If you want to find out more I would call Willie at Seven Sheds, He has produced a book on Australian Beer.
