Brit citizenship V's Aussie citizenship...
Just had a thought - doesn't happen very often but anyway....
If it were decreed that you must choose between your Brit citizenship and your Aussie citizenship - and you HAD to give up one or the other - which would you choose???
( yes, I know that it's V.unlikely and some of you ((including us)), don't have our citizenships yet but it's food for thought).
So, Brit or Aussie?

15 years ago, I had to choose between German and British citizenship and choose British citizenship. No idea what I would do if I had to choose between British and Oz - but then I haven't even got the visa to go to Oz yet

It is easier to travel the world with a UK passport, but as Australia is where i have chosen to live then i would give up my British Citizenship. No contest

There is no 'choice of nationality' rule in Germany if you have a German parent. And if neither parent is German, it's unlikely you ever had German citizenship (even if born in Germany).

I understood your meaning, Leigh! For me, it'd be Aussie every time. Anyone who wants to live in this (UK) cold, damp and miserable place permanently is welcome to it!
Get me outta hereeeeeeeeeeeee ...

The sort of government that would impose a rule like this - especially on those who are *already* dual citizens - is likely to be of the nasty/totalitarian variety (Zimbabwe did this a few years ago). In that case, surely the natural option would be to select the 'other' country, whichever one that was.

G'day Leigh
... and "Oi, oi, oi"!!!
Not sure about the return date - too many complications to set one yet.
And, Jeremy, don't panic, mate, it's only a hypothetical, bored (or possibly drunken) time-filler-question!

If the question was "If you had to chose which citizenship to have & the answer dictated which country you were to live in" it would be a better question.

* Sigh * ... oh, okaaaaaaayyyy - but I'm still proud to be an Aussie and wouldn't have it any other way.
* PR warbles * "I still call Australia hooooooome."
Hmmm, pity it's a bit early for a or two!
