Agreed. IMHO Ipswich is . Each to their own and all that, I'm sure if you were to buy there then - long term - it would not only be a good investment but a great place to live with all the developments going on out that way.

Agreed. I want to love Auchenflower as it's so close to city and still a bit 'family' but it's just not got character at all. Bardon and Rosalie are nice tho.

How can you say Milton does not have the equiv of Oxford St ... you have Park Road with its Eiffel Tower replica and clientele stuck in the 80s (complete with red porsches)!!

They're Ferraris!

Oxford St can more than outdo the Ferraris on Park Rd some days.

A couple of oz colleagues were debating a term for the western suburbs recently - work related. Came up with 'aspirational', which may, or may not be, about right.

How do you define a top suburb?

Some go on dollar value.

Some on POSHNESS

Some on schooling etc

For us, its the VIBE

I know its an old CLEEESHAY ! but its the vibe..

Give me solitary acreage anyday, build my mcmansion on it, piss behind a tree, drive a old runaround rust bucket, and smoke cheapo smokos...

Throw em off GUARD

Toilets haven't got that far then

Thats what I look for, the ability to piss in the garden, I think realestate.com.au should have a symbol for it next to the number of bed and bathrooms.

What about Jimboomba, greenbank, area's.
Mostly acerage, quiet, reasonably priced.
Its sort of in between Brisbane and gold coast.
Great area to bring up children.
Friendly people.

We're renting in a nice, posh, quiet "sought after" road in Auchenflower. Unfurnished $475 p/week so not exactly cheap.....but were burgled 3 weeks ago. Cleaned out within 2hours. All the neighbours were in but they (the burglars) were clever enough to have the same colour car as ours so nobody noticed.
As far as I can see, it's all about security. As posh as it is here, if there is a weak spot, they'll find it.
We will be looking at buying in the New Year. Our price range won't allow us to look here in Auchenflower but we both work here so will be looking at The Gap or Kenmore. Security will be at the top of our priorities.
My advice is do what you can to make your house secure and make sure you are not underinsured. After that, you can do no more. Just enjoy life!!!

We have friends in Toowong and it is (I think) a lovely place. Ideal for getting to the city, handy for everywhere really (outside of the rush hours).

My son lives there now....he has recently moved from Taringa.

It is very handy for the city on the City Cat.
