Brisbane Suburbs...advice or comments please?
Hello
We are moving to Brisbane and are now trying to tighten up where we are actually going to look to live. Currently the short list is the following suburbs: Upper Kedron, Gaythorne, Mitchelton, Albany Creek, McDowall, Warner and Cashmere. We have 2 girls, 11 & 9 yrs, and therefore will also be looking at schools in these suburbs, either state or catholic. If anyone has any comments on any of these suburbs, and / or schools it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Mark |

Re: Brisbane Suburbs...advice or comments please?
You have a mixed slection of suburbs in your list.
Cashmere and Warner are the furthest from the CBD, they have a more rural feel to them with acreage plots (about 1.5/2 acre blocks) in some parts, also new housing estates such as Warner Lakes (nice houses but on small blocks). Albany Creek is pleasant and has a community feel to it rather than being just another suburb of Brisbane. Plenty of newer style housing in estates. It has most of the everyday facilties you will need. The other suburbs are closer to the city and will have a mix of older and newer housing. Housing of course gets more expensive closer to the CBD. Hope that helps, |
Re: Brisbane Suburbs...advice or comments please?
Albany Creek, McDowall and Cashmere all very nice with good access to facilities and the CBD.
Add Eatons Hill to the list too which is between Albany Creek and Cashmere. All these places are close enough to the CBD for work, yet far away enough to be quiet and peaceful Good luck with your hunt. |
Re: Brisbane Suburbs...advice or comments please?
North Lakes is an exceptional place to live for families if being 27km out of the city doesnt bother you! There is everything you need really and a huge bonus is it is very safe!! I have heard the Lakes Primary School(private) is meant to be good!. :D

To all responders
Thank you. It looks like we will find somewhere to live that allows our girls to go to the Our Lady of assumption school and my work, both in Enogerra. Now to find somewhere to live.. Mark |

Live in Ferny Grove which is 11km north of city. On the direct train route which is great for going out. Semi rural with lots of bushland and good walks, handy shops and really good schools both catholic and state schools. My son did year 11 and 12 and did really well. We love it here and have just built. Hope this helps wendy |
