Brisbane Southbank/Tenerife or Broadbeach?

Brisbane Southbank/Tenerife or Broadbeach?
Where would you live and why? If you had the choice bewteen the two, where would you choose?
I want life, not souless estates, not miles from anywhere, i hate driving, i love walking and using public transport.....I like the beach, but i also like a safe, clean enviroment to live in where oppurtunities are there to work.
I hear on here the Gold Coast is suffering, obviously tourism, a high transient society attracts sometimes people who like to operate outside the grid?
Whereas Ternerife at al, downsides, busy maybe, but i like the hustle?
