Brisbane Northern suburbs v Caloundra/Maroochy
We originally ear-marked Caloundra/Maroochy as ticking all the boxes for an ideal place for a young family. Mountain Creek/Buderim/Sippy Downs seem ideal. However, our friends have just come back from a visit themselves and are keen on the Moreton Bay area and are trying to convince us to look there too when we visit in June. What are the main lifestyle differences between these areas? Does one have better transport links or schools? Does Moreton Bay get flooded with tourists? We are relying alot on opinions of people visiting different areas as 3 weeks is very little time to go everywhere on the Sunshine Coast. Any info gratefully accepted (good or bad).

The Northern suburbs near the coast like Redcliffe, North Lakes etc are nice to live in and fairly accessable to Brisbane. The other northern suburbs a bit further inland like Albany Creek, Samford etc are also really nice and again the commute is a reasonable one.
If you don't have to travel to Brisbane for work then I would go for the Sunshine Coast everytime.
My advice would be look at the websites like
http://www.ourbrisbane.com/living/suburbs/
http://www.tourismsunshinecoast.com.au/
http://www.prsc.qld.gov.au/c/prsc
and then visit as many places as you can including schools etc to check out transport links and all the other things important to you.

Got to agree with Billabong if you need to work in Brisbane forget the Sunshine coast unless you are a dedicated long distance commuter and can face a 90 minute journey each way. Living and working on the SC is a different matter and it comes down to personnel preferences.

Thanks for the website addresses. I haven't come across any of them on my searches so will be interested to see any new info they might have. Husband has been offered job in Caboolture but nothing yet confirmed. I could probably find a position local to Sunshine coast as there seem to be plenty of opticians vacancies to go around. Hubby hasn't ruled out commute to Brisbane if work not plentiful for diesel mechanics on Sunshine coast. Thanks again for advice
