Ok we have it all here.

Gold coast theme parks.

Outback Spectacular.
Seaworld.
Movieworld.
Dreamworld.
Wet n wild.
White water world.
Australia Zoo.
Surfers Paradise, A whole host of beaches.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
The City. Ride the City-Cat.

I recommend Seaworld for the children or any of the theme parks.

You can purchase like 7 day passes for all parks and stuff which works well.

Hope this is a start.

The riverside beach and surrounding gardens is good for kids and for parents to chill out at.

You can take a train and then a bus north and do Australia Zoo and head off south to Wet and Wild and all the other theme parks if the weather's good.

The science part of the museum is ok, not as good as some we've seen. My kids are young teenagers and also enjoyed the skate parks and shops.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a decent day out. Not in the same league as Australia Zoo but a lot nearer; I think you can take a boat ride up the river from the CBD to the sanctuary which includes entry etc, but no idea as to the cost.

Also city cat round trip from South Bank up the river and back is enjoyable.

If you want to stay close to BNE then cover the following:

DRIVE up Mt Coot Tha, this is in the western suburbs just off the Western freeway and is the highest point in BNE. There is a restaurant, lookout etc and you will get an excellent view of Brisbane.

Go back to the bottom of Mt Coot tha and wander around the botanical gardens for a bit.

Go to South Bank and take a swim in the large lagoon pool. Go on the weekend and take in the SOuth Bank markets.

Take the City Cat to New Farm Park where the kids can play on the excellent playground in amongst the Moreton Bay Figs.

Go to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary - I think about $35 for a family of four - out at Fig Tree Pocket - koalas, emus, feed the kangaroos etc etc.

Take in the Riverside Markets in the CBD on a Saturday/Sunday.

Go to the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) at South Bank and take in the Warhol exhibit, lots of stuff for the kids to do on the lower floor.

Take the kids to the Pancake house (forget its exact name) in the converted church in the CBD near th corner of Charlotte and George Streets.

Go the Sciencentre again at SOuth Bank (about $40 I think for a family) for some hands on science fun stuff.

For a bush walk near to the city head out to Brisbane Forest Park. There are various gentle bush walks and the centre there has wildlife to view including a platypus.

Hi
i would reply but it seems the previous posters have named everything we tried when we came over for a reccie. We did like Mt Coot-tha at dusk which was extraordinary watching the city slowly light up. Also as previous also said Lone Pine Koala Sancyuary. I think this was the highlight of the kids trip as they spent ages stroking Kangaroos etc.
We also did White Water World, and we enjoyed it so much we ended up getting yearly passes for when we finally emigrate.
Mt Tambourine also very good place to go, lovely and cool up there, also some tourist shopping to try, with one shop selling real english sweets(i still cant understand why English go all the way round the world to get away from the place, see something english when they get there, then throw all their money at it). We did that after going to White Water World.
