Brisbane - Electrical goods and TV retailers ?
Hi,
Can anyone post the names of stores/chains (such as Currys and Dixons in UK) who sell such items as washing machines, fridges, freezers, microwaves, cookers and TV, videos, DVD players etc.
I'd like to get a general idea of prices before we move over.
Many thanks.

Got all of our electrical stuff from Good Guys, bought tv, dvd, fridge freezer, vaccuum and iron and got 15% off the price for cash. Feels a bit strange haggling in a big store but definately worth it

Hi,
We bought a good bit of stuff for the house in the last couple of weeks and after a lot of looking around, the Good Guys were by far the best deal on washing machines and fridges.
However, for other smaller goods like espresso machines, toasters, kettles, etc we found Mega Mart to be really good. Unlike the Good Guys though, Mega Mart seem quite strict on the no further reductions for cash issue .... we tried a few different staff members and each one gave us the 'our prices are already lower than most and if you can find a better price elsewhere we'll match it' line. However, when we got to the cash register we thought we'd give it one last try (ignore the shame) and the guy gave us a discount! So, ABCDiamond, thanks for the haggling advice on an earlier post. It worked!
Irishmolly, where are you coming from in Ireland? I'm from Meath myself. Where are you planning on settling in Brisbane? We've been here a few weeks now and really like the place.
Schnouck

go to the catalogue page - type in store number and away you go.
schnouck, We're coming from Cork - probably start of August. No idea where to settle yet but probably within 30 min drive of CBD. My brother-in-law is from Kells.

So it looks like you'll be arriving into Brisbane at a really nice time weatherwise. Better than landing in during sunstroke February, that's for sure. Best of luck with all the planning. If you need any help/advice before you arrive or after you get here, feel free to drop us a line.
Schnouck.
