brisbane beaches?
Hi,
We are going to the gold coast in august. I will be working in Brisbane, but all the in laws are near to Surfers Paradise. We are not sure of the best place to rent. We like the idea of living in the centre of Brisbane, near the river, but also want to be within reasonable distance to a beach. What are the best area in Brisbane, and what is the nearest beach to Brisbane. (other than the manmade one in the centre!) We have no children, so don't mind an apartment as long as there is a swimming pool in the complex.
Anyone any ideas?

Thanks Buzzy,
That's a great report, and a big help! Bunya sounds really nice. Also Bayside. How easy is it to commute to CBD from thesae suburbs?

We're in Cleveland, (Bayside) and it takes an hour by train from here which is the end of the line, into Central Station. By car the journey is 35 minutes, so when you get a job check out the parking facilities.

Theres actually not beaches in Bayside per say, small stretches of sand and some points. Best of both worlds is maybe Bayside (possible bias on my part there) but I needed to be commutable to the city but wanted to be by the water.
That way its only under an hour down the gold coast and to the north the sunshine coast. But closer your inlaws but yet commutable to the city as many do. The drive in is actually not bad and the traffic is usually ok.

Thanks, as usual for all your good advice. I have been checking out Cleveland on the web and like the look of that very much, but are open to any other suggestions!

No rail line across to the Redcliffe Peninsula - you need to get a bus across, or drive, and pick up the train at Sandgate or Shorncliffe, ir somewhere further towards the city.

There was a plan to extend the line from Petrie to Redcliffe, is that still on the cards?
