As well as the redlands area, check out Manly, Manly west, Wynnum.

To the north east, check out Redcliffe and the rest of the penisula(supposed to be up and coming?????!).Sandgate and Shorncliffe are also nice.

Bribie island a bit further north.

To the North west, The Gap, Ferny Grove, Ashgrove, Bardon. A little bit further out from them at the base of the mountains is Ferny Hills, Albany creak and Eaton Hills. Samford is worth a lookaround.

Wouldn't personally go west.

Don't know too much about the southside.

Sunshine and Gold coasts are too far away if you want to work in the city. Deperds on how much you want to live near a surf beach.

And how much you want to spend on a house.

Thanks for that, have been told by many that North West is good and prices not too high there, have got $260,000 and wouldnt we all like beach side but think may have to settle for commuting distance, still better than the UK!!!! May take a look at Mooloolaba which been told is an hour commute but nice area and cheaper than Brisbane - any ideas on this one?
Will have to find rental for a while anyway but will aim for the areas you have advised. Many many thanks.

Mooloolaba is nice, a bit touristy perhaps but good beaches.

What are you trying to get with your money? bedrooms? en suite? pool? land? extra lounge room???

Hi,

Ideally we would like 3 beds with some land, pool would be great but not a necessity and would like not to be too far from the beach. We all want what we cannot have here dont we. We are keeping an open mind til it all works out there. Cannot go before the end of this year anyway. How is your visa coming on?

Okay, heres some ideas for the $250k-$300k bracket with 3 beds on some of the more popular Sunshine Coast areas (inc Mooloolaba)

And heres the same thing for slightly closer to the city, Northern Suburbs (about 5 mins from Sandgate Beach, 15 mins from Redcliffe and 25mins from Sunshine Coast - 25mins direct train into CBD)

This house is on my boyfriends road and quite typical of the newer design for one level QLD building

Mooloolabah is more than an hours commute away from Brisbane and you will not get a 3 bed house there for $260k! It is a pretty expensive area and you will need at least mid $300's for a 3 bed house and this would not be beachside.

Mooloolah is cheaper as it is inland and it is not the same place as Mooloolabah, some of the names around here are confusing!

The nearest place on the Sunny coast to Brisbane is Caloundra. People do commute from here, though I would not have thought it was a quick journey so personally would settle closer to Brisbane.

Good luck!

What part of Brisbane are you looking at ? West, Inland, Coast, South, North ?

I hear that Samford is very nice!

As Tina has said, you wont get from Mooloolabah to Brisbane in an hour, try 1½+hrs as a commute it could be up to 2 hrs.

As for the shippers, do a search on here, thousands of posts about what to ship, what not to bring & who to use. Normally treated leather goods & wooden furniture are fine.

Parts of Capalaba are nice, some areas with decent sized blocks of land aswell. But, there are some not so good areas. You need to look around, What is your budget for a house ?

It is also close to Wellington Point, Victoria Point, Manly etc.

Around $400k - We would love a 4 bedroom (new if possible). We don't really want to be more than 30 minutes from the City.

Any suggestions as to suitable areas

Default good real estate site

I don't know how to attach a link to a site but try www.realestate.com.au A really good site for sales and rentals and links to agents.

Hi Fimart

Looks like you just found out how to attach a link

I agree with you on www.realestate.com.au

It contains property from the majority of Agents all around the country, and saves trying to find agents from a specific area.

The advanced search option also allows you to enter the number of bedrooms you need, the type of property - eg: house, acreage, etc, and even parking spaces , as well as a price range.
