Bringing violin/viola to Australia
Would there be any issue with bringing wooden instruments (a violin and a viola) into Australia when we move next month? I'm worried the customs will reject them or fumigate them because they're wooden. Any advice greatly appreciated.

No, should not be any problems, I am not going to do a thorough Internet check but you will have to declare it since it's wooden and show it to them at Customs. I have brought wooden things in through Customs before and no problems.

Untreated wood needs to be declared. We brought several guitars and a ukulele without any issues. Do take tension out of strings and pack well though.

I also brought a violin, a viola and a guitar without any problems.

Thank you everyone. This is a massive relief. Will definitely declare.

I will start off by apologizing if this isn't the right location for this post. I tried to search for similar topics, but couldn't find anything for my specific questions and then I found this.
I was just thinking of bringing in guitar and violin in Australia last week but wondered if it's possible to transport now when there is a pandemic going on? |
