Bringing health supplements into Oz by mail order
When I move to Australia, I will need to get the health supplements I’m using for my health condition by mail order from the US/ UK as they are not available in Australia. They are not medicines but specialist supplements (nutritional and homeopathic) in tablet, capsule or tincture form, made in the US or EU. I’ve heard that Customs is very strict about bringing in any consumable products even for personal use. Has anyone had any problems bringing health supplements into Australia? I’d be really interested to hear about your experiences.

I often get supplements sent to me for my job - often they get opened, but once customs have determined they aren't anything dubious they let them through. Also some supplements may seem unavailable as you can't find them OTC, but you may get them prescribed by a naturopath/herbalist etc.
I've also travelled with herbal tinctures etc and simply declared them at customs - they are fine with them -although I wouldn't want to travel with fresh herbs.

Seem to be OK so long as there is no animal/fish content, eg glucosamine

Thanks for the feedback. The supplements I use include non-dairy probiotics in capsule form - I hope these would be OK as they don't have the dairy content which Customs seems particularly sticky about.
