Default Bringing back old painting

Hi
I have been left an old painting with an ornate wooden frame and back, of my dads. As you can imagine it is very special to me. I am flying back on monday, what do you think will happen about it at customs? If they take it away to be fumigated, does any one know how long it takes or how much it will cost, or would they confiscate it all together? I could not bear loosing it.
Any advice would be much appreciated
Kate

I've know idea but surely the wood rules are aimed at untreated packaging etc.

Lets put it a different way, my TV is basically electronics inside a wooden box, don't think they would take away a TV for treatment..?

You could always take out any glass, wrap it and post it. I've sent pictures the other way, into the country with no ill effects.

Do you mean Aus to UK? If so, now I come to think of it, they probably wouldn't fumigate coming in. We're MUCH laxer about that kind of thing in UK. We don't mind a few extra bugs etc! Q
