If you do a search on shipping pets there are squillions of threads on this. The cost will vary dependent on the size of your dog as well as the shipper - a Great Dane will cost a lot more than a yorkie. A lot of the threads do mention what type of dog people are/have taken with them, so might gove you an idea. A lot of people get quotes from a load of shippers first as well, we have got 3 so far for our cats, but we'll be getting more!

My cost are approx £1,500 for my dog, a shih-tzu. It's all paid in stages so not sure of exact cost yet.

Total cost for our labrador, inc quarantine charges, vets fees etc - probably closer to 3000 pounds than 2500. (sorry no pounds symbol!)
It's a small fortune. We could afford it and he was only three so quite a good 'investment' (assuming he doesn't get poisoned over here) but I fully understand people who rehome their dogs as it is a phenomenal amount of money to spend on a pet.
