British Expats - Bricklayers in Perth

Hi everyone

Is there any brickies here in Perth preferaly SOR that can give my hubby some advice please.

Been here 5 weeks and I know before everyone jumps on us it is not long but for the last 2 weeks hubby has been trying to find a job! He has phoned up about 25 companies, including builders merchants, he has been out to sites to ask gangs if they need or know of anyone who would give him a start, we have looked in the papers, nothing, I have looked on the internet and when you phone up the nos. they all say the jobs were put on a few weeks back and they have just not taken the advert off. He has phoned all the major housebuilders but they just say they will pass on his phone nos. to the subbies and now we really do not know what to do!

Is there anything else that we should be doing? Was it like this for all of you when you first came out? Is there actual work out there and it is just the fact that nobody wants Marc to join their gang? Some people are saying that there is no work and others are saying to him that there is work but you can't just join a gang just like that!

We do appeciate that things are very different here in Perth but it is just some advice we need and would be really grateful for any tips on what we can do.
