Default brick house or timber house (Brisbane)

hi, Interested to hear anyones opinions on what house they consider best for Brisbane's climate. Are the wooden ones more suited to the climate? I love the look of the wooden houses, however does this mean more maintenance (painting and termites). Also this may be a silly q, but would there be more creepy crawlies in a wooden house?
What type of house, if any, would be more sought after? Also the brick houses feel more secure to live in?
thanks in advance for any replies!

they dont as a rule build brick houses in qld, i`m assuming that you mean brick veneer which is still a wooden framed house with a veneer of non structual brick or rendered blockwork on the outside

brick veneer will have the least maintinance as i shouldnt need anything doing to it with renderd block beeing next and then the wooden slats which will need painting every 5 yrs or so
bugs i would say that there woudnt be any differnce across the range

Wood needs painting, and a badly designed brick veneer house can act as an storage heater in the summer ( giving out heat long into the night) . I think the vast majority are now brick.

At least 80% are wooden in many suburbs....they certainly are where we live in Toowong and most of our local suburbs.

I prefer the wooden houses.
