Default Bramley apples in or around Melbourne

I'm pining for an apple crumble made from nice Bramley apples to get that lovely tart flavour....not exactly common here. Spent 30 mins wandering around the Queen Vic market to no avail.

Does anybody know where to find them around here - or a good alternative for that flavour?

Been a few threads on this topic, you can probably get Cox's if you look hard enough but not Bramleys.

This all makes me think that there is probably a good market in growing a few Bramleys and Cox's on a hobby farm somewhere and visiting markets with a higher than average population of Brits.

It isn't the season for Bramleys - they are rarer than hens teeth and almost never reach mainstream shops. I have only managed to get them once in 5 years, and that was because a kind neighbour had trawled the net to source them and gave me 4.

Thanks for that. Popped over to their store in the Queen Vic. Not available at the mo' due to season. But store is duly noted.

Have you tried making your crumble with Granny Smiths? If you get the really bright green ones they're nice and tart. Still not as good as Bramleys though
